Welcome to Timeless Currency!
Our goal is to be your guide in the gold and silver commodity market. The blog is created as a part of the course BUS323 Energy and Commodity Market analysis, teached at the Norwegian University of Life Science. This blog is for informational purposes only and should not be considered investment advice! We will in this blog focus on what we choose to call the timeless currency, gold and silver.
Gold and silver have been used as a currency since 550 BC, and people have been intrigued by the metals for centuries, either as jewelry or as a protection against economic uncertainty. The goal of the blog is to analyse why gold and silver still continues to be relevant in the commodity market.
If we look at the history of gold and silver prices during the last 10 years, we can see that the price of silver has been more volatile than the price of gold. Both metals have increased relatively steadily throughout the years. During uncertain economic times, gold has shown an increase in price. Investors have often used investments in gold to secure their position in the money market and secure their wealth during inflation.
The gold to silver ratio shows that silver is cheaper than gold which makes it more available for smaller investors. This makes silver an attractive alternative since it is cheaper to buy a bigger quantity of silver than gold. This could lead to a major profit if the silver increases in value, which is a scenario that is likely to happen with the increase in the focus on green energy. Silver plays a crucial role in the production of solar panels, and with demand continuing to rise, its value is expected to grow.
